The world continues to rely heavily on systems of consumption that prioritize convenience over long‑term responsibility. While materials like plastic have transformed modern life, their widespread use has revealed the need for stronger education, policy, and accountability. As communities around the world push for more sustainable practices, Grin Green International (GGI) believes meaningful change begins with education—empowering students to lead informed action that protects the environment, strengthens communities, and supports a more sustainable future.
Grin Green International's First Climate Strike - Earth Day 2018
Grin Green International was founded over seven years ago to advance educational advocacy and responsible leadership through experiential learning, empowering students to drive meaningful reform in their communities across environmental, social, and economic challenges. Since its launch, the organization has led impactful initiatives in advocacy, community development, and youth leadership, demonstrating how education can translate into real‑world change.
Over a year before Greta became a household name, GGI was the first ever student organization to passionately advocate climate action and the problem of plastic waste which has since sparked reform on that issue.
GGI has also educated thousands of students throughout Asia about climate action. Our student ambassadors have spoken at UNEP, schools, government ministries, and other prominent organizations dozens of times about the power and impact of student advocacy and experiential educational. Partnering with key organizations and companies throughout Asia, we have organized eight beach and street cleanups, and organized five climate strikes including Bangkok’s chapter of the global Friday’s For Future global climate strike.
GGI's initiatives align with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One key goal is SDG 4: Quality Education. GGI recognizes the importance of education in creating a sustainable future. Through workshops, mentoring programs, and educational resources, GGI equips youth with the tools they need to advocate for causes they believe in. By fostering a generation of environmentally conscious individuals, GGI contributes to building a more sustainable and equitable world.
